I know 2 posts in a day is an overdose. But this is not really a post. Its a promotional campaign. Hit my blog as many times as possible. I got a moral booster. And may be that will get the best out of me some day. Right now all that's coming out of me is cough (eeeeeeeeeeewwww!!!)
As I was travelling from Goa to Pune in a Bus, I overheard some conversation and could see a lot of dilemma on the face of a fellow passenger. As the story evolved, I could connect with him. Thus it went: They were a couple, he was with his fiance/wife/girlfriend (a non-ma/behen relationship). There was another girl (pretty) who wanted to a lady's seat. She could get it only if this gentleman would give up the company of his travel mate as there were no other female passengers on the bus. You got this one right - hit counters tell you when the readership is waning and thus when you need to effect a "change" - as in - write a new post :P .. or liven up the blog somehow.
Other things that helped me increase my readership were to keep exploring new blogs every once in a while; even post comments on those blogs - as a result, that person vists ur blog. In many cases he/she may like ur blog and recommend it to his/her regular readers!!
A corollary of the above is that exploring blogs of people you dont know increases ur readership to a greater extent than exploring blogs of people known to you. Reason? Regular readers of a friend's blogs may be regular readers of your blogs too.
And finally, as I found out the hard way :-(, one more essential task to increase readership (even retain readership) is to respond to comments on old posts. If you dont read and respond to readers' comments, that reader is less likely to return.
Anyways cheers to ur morale-boosted blogging (whatever on earth that is :p)
